How to Measure Your Head
Get a Measuring Tape
Use a soft fabric measuring tape. If you do not have one, use a piece of string and measure it with a ruler afterward.
Find the Widest Part
Position the tape about 2.5cm (1 inch) above your eyebrows and wrap it around the widest part of your head (usually just above your ears).
Make It Snug
The tape should be snug but not too tight. It should sit flat against your head all the way around.
Take the Measurement
Note the measurement in centimeters. Take it 2-3 times to ensure accuracy.

Most Bali riders are Size M or L. If you are between sizes, we recommend going with the smaller size for a snugger, safer fit. The helmet will conform to your head shape after a few rides.

How to Check the Fit
The helmet should feel snug all around
When you first put it on, it should feel tight but not painful. Your cheeks should be gently pressed, and there should be no gaps between the padding and your head.
The helmet should not move when you shake your head
Put on the helmet and fasten the chin strap. Then shake your head side-to-side and up-and-down. The helmet should stay in place without shifting around.
The chin strap should be secure
You should be able to fit only 1-2 fingers between the strap and your chin. If you can fit more, it is too loose.
Your vision should not be obstructed
The helmet should sit level on your head, not tilted back. You should have full peripheral vision.
It will loosen slightly over time
The interior padding will compress and conform to your head shape after a few rides. What feels snug at first will become comfortable.
Signs of Wrong Fit
Too Tight
- Painful pressure points on forehead or sides
- Headache after wearing for a few minutes
- Cannot fit the helmet over your head easily
Too Loose
- Helmet slides around when you move your head
- You can fit more than 2 fingers under chin strap
- Gaps between padding and your head
Brand-Specific Sizing Notes
AGV Helmets
AGV helmets tend to fit true to size but with a race-fit interior (slightly narrower). If you are between sizes and prefer more comfort, size up.
KYT Helmets
KYT helmets generally fit true to size with Asian head shapes in mind. Most riders find their normal size works perfectly.
Retro / Open Face Helmets
Retro helmets typically fit slightly looser than full-face helmets. If you are between sizes, go with the smaller size.
